Parenting is often described as one of the most meaningful journeys in life — but also one of the most demanding. Between responsibilities, expectations, and everyday stress, parents carry a silent weight of emotions that often remain unspoken.
Many parents wonder: Where is the space to pause, reflect, and be supported in this role?
This is where art-based parent circles come in. Through guided creative expression, parents can transform what feels overwhelming into something visible, tangible, and manageable.
Why Art?
Art is a universal language of emotions. You don’t need to be an artist to benefit from painting or drawing in this context. Instead of searching for the “right words” to explain complex feelings, a brushstroke or a color can reveal what lies inside. Neuroscience confirms that creative expression lowers stress, activates areas of the brain linked to problem-solving, and improves emotional regulation.
For parents, this means a rare opportunity to:
- release built-up tension,
- recognize unspoken emotions,
- reconnect with their child beyond roles and expectations,
- and rediscover joy in family bonds.
Why Circles?
Parent circles offer more than an art workshop. They create a safe, supportive space where parents are not alone. Sharing experiences reduces the sense of isolation many parents feel, while listening to others’ stories often brings fresh perspective and reassurance. In group settings, parents learn they are not “failing” — they are human.
Educational research shows that reflective parenting groups foster empathy, strengthen emotional connection with children, and increase resilience in family life. When combined with art therapy techniques, the effect is amplified: parents leave not only with insights, but with a personal artwork that anchors the experience in memory.
Introducing Parenting in Colors: An Artistic Journey
This autumn, Anna’s Art Atelier (Prishtina) and SereNest invite parents to a 5-part series of creative workshops, guided by family psychologist Laurie Vandegard and art educator Anna Congedo.
Each 2-hour session combines discussion, creative exploration, and gentle sharing. Parents will paint their emotions, rediscover their child’s essence, explore family values, and celebrate the bond they share.
Workshop dates (Saturdays, 10:00 am):
- 27 September – What I Feel in My Parenting
- 11 October – Seeing My Child as They Truly Are
- 25 October – Emotions in Colors
- 8 November – Our Family Values Canvas
- 22 November – Celebrating the Bond
No artistic skills are needed. What matters is curiosity, openness, and the wish to take a breath in your parenting journey.
Why You Should Join
- For your well-being: Learn tools to process emotions before they become overwhelming.
- For your child: Deepen your ability to see them as they truly are, beyond expectations.
- For your family: Identify values you want to pass on and celebrate your connection.
- For your community: Build bonds with other parents walking a similar path.
Parenting is not meant to be done in isolation. These circles remind us that growth, joy, and resilience bloom when we share, create, and reflect together.
